Julie Pullen
Dr. Julie Pullen is a Scientific Advisor with Propeller.
Julie is an oceanographer, meteorologist, climate scientist, and active angel investor and LP in climate tech. She serves on the Board of Ocean Visions and the Science Advisory Board for Carbon to Sea. She most recently led early product development and then climate strategy at Jupiter, a climate risk startup, and is an adjunct research scientist at Columbia’s Earth Institute. She worked on ocean tech commercialization while helming the Dept of Homeland Security's National Center on Maritime Security as a Professor of Ocean Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. She was a Fulbright Visiting Professor in the Philippines and also previously was an oceanographer with the Navy. She has served on National Academy of Sciences panels on ocean observing, earth systems, and climate (including the most recent National Climate Assessments), and advises the Department of Energy’s Environmental & Climate Sciences on R&D and innovation, and the U.S. Intelligence Community on climate security issues.
Dr. Pullen has served on the leadership councils (by election) of The Oceanography Society, and the American Meteorological Society. At both societies she co-organized their largest meetings.
